WHEREAS the family is the foundation of society, which passes on culture and traditions and rears the future generation and also significantly contributes financially to society by way of taxes; and
WHEREAS Canadians pay more taxes than any other country among the Group of 8 (G-8) in the industrialized world; and
WHEREAS the heavy taxation and lack of tax incentives for families have discouraged the birth of children and have contributed to Canada’s low birthrate of only 1.5 children per woman of child bearing age; and
WHEREAS Canadians should be encouraged to give birth to children in order to raise Canada’s birth rate to ensure that the present social and financial infrastructures of society function at a satisfactory level; and
WHEREAS tax incentives for families have been shown to raise the birth rate in other countries such as France
BE IT RESOLVED that the federal government develop tax policies that will provide families with financial relief and other incentives to encourage the birth of children.
